Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose a therapist?

A: It can be difficult to choose a therapist. You need to feel comfortable and at ease, because the therapeutic relationship is key. Visit the Therapeutic Approach page for more information about my ways of working. If you think we could be a good fit to work together, we can arrange a 20 minute call, free-of-charge, so that you can decide if you would like to a book a session.

Q: How long does a therapy session last?

A: A therapy session lasts 50 minutes.

Q: How frequent would our sessions be?

A: I mainly provide weekly sessions, usually at a set day/time each week. I can work with clients who have changing schedules depending on my current caseload. I can also provide fortnightly sessions for a set number of clients. Contact Me and we can discuss your requirements.

Q: Do I have to commit to a certain number of sessions?

A: No. You can book session-to-session. If you would like to end your sessions, I encourage you to discuss this with me. This way we can draw the sessions to a natural close.

Q: How do I pay for sessions?

A: Sessions cost £50 each. I can provide lower-cost concessionary rates to a set number of clients each month. I ask for payment before the session takes place. I will send you a reminder the day before our session. Payment is via bank transfer and details will be sent to you in a client agreement.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel a session?

A: I ask for 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel. If the circumstances are beyond your control, please inform me as soon as possible. Rearrangement of a session with more than 24 hours’ notice will not incur a fee. More details will be in our client agreement.

Q: Is everything discussed in therapy confidential?

A: Yes, therapy sessions are confidential. I will not disclose information without your consent, except in cases where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. These instances will be outlined in a therapy agreement which you will receive at the start of therapy.

Q: What supervision do you have as a therapist?
A: I have regular sessions with a supervisor. I am a member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and adhere to their Code of Ethics. I also regularly attend my own therapy sessions.

Q: What training do you have?

A: I have Level 2, Level 3 and a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and Therapy. My training meets the requirements to practice ethically as per the NCPS. I am currently undertaking an additional Diploma in Trauma. View the About Me page for a list of my qualifications and training.

Q: Can I have therapy online?

A: Yes. I work in-person and online, using the video call platform Google Meets. An account is not required. I will send secure links ahead of each session.
